On Mon Oct. 26 the two tennis courts at NYU Abu Dhabi were opened to the NYUAD community. This is part of a series of facilities that will be opened over the next months. The convenience store in the Campus Center building will be opened on Oct. 29. The swimming pool is scheduled to be made available to NYUAD students and faculty sometime next week once it’s turned over from Tamkeen to NYUAD.
The tennis courts are accessible to all of the NYUAD community. In regard to their use, Director of NYUAD Athletics Peter Dicce wrote in an email:
“There are PE classes, a Tennis SIG and intramural sports. Time slots for those groups and programs will be prioritized. Outside of those activities, the tennis courts will be available for booking by the NYUAD community. There may be tennis events from time to time, however, plenty of advanced notice will be provided.”
The pool, on the other hand, will be available to non-university affiliated users depending on the needs of the NYUAD community. Dicce indicated that after the swimming pool opens, a survey will be conducted to determine if there are times during which it can be made available to other people.
