####Bikeshare Program Expands Across Abu Dhabi
On Feb. 9, Cyacle bikeshare program sponsored by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank marked its plans for rapid expansion with a 40-people-ride to Masdar City. Currently, the program has 11 bike stations on Yas Island and Al Raha, with plans to open another station on Feb. 17 at Marasy.
In order to promote cycling as a means of daily transport, Cyacle plans to expand its inventory from 75 to 300 bicycles in February. Several upcoming station locations have been announced, including one at NYU Abu Dhabi.
The stations are open 24 hours a day, and hiring a bicycle costs 20 AED per day or 50 AED for three days.
####Red Bull Air Race in Abu Dhabi On Feb. 10, the Red Bull Air Race World Championship 2017 opened their 10th season in Abu Dhabi. During the competition, the pilots flew around a course, competing against each other for time, while engaging in aerobatic stunts.
The competition took place over the waters of the Corniche, with viewers watching from both free spectator areas and paid lounges. The Air Race is also reported to have stimulated the local economy by creating jobs and attracting tourists and spectators. The organizers announced a four-year extension meaning that the next race will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2018.
####Dubai Happiness Festival On Feb. 17, The Happiness Hub will be hosting the Dubai Happiness Festival at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club. The festival is the first of its kind in the region and is part of an effort to channel policy-making toward happiness in the UAE. The festival was preceded by the recruitment of H.E. Ohood Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, the minister of happiness, in February 2016.
The festival will consist of workshops on subjects ranging from positive coping strategies to yoga, led by over 65 wellbeing experts.
The Happiness Festival will take place on Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and is free for all. Prior registration is required for participation.
