A glimpse into what is happening on campus this week.

May 6, 2018

Midnight Breakfast
NYU Abu Dhabi’s end of semester tradition, Midnight Breakfast, will return on May 7. The event is going retro this spring with a Scooby Doo theme. Midnight Breakfast is an opportunity to fuel up for your upcoming exams with a wide variety of food, including classic ADNH breakfast food, McDonalds, Cinnabon and many Scooby snacks. Don’t forget to register for the event here and come to celebrate the last day of classes at 10 p.m. in the East Dining Hall.
Shakespeare Theater Company’s Noura
Don’t miss out on the Middle East premiere of Noura, a new Shakespeare Theater Company production written by award-winning playwright and performer Heather Raffo. Follow Noura and her husband Tariq, two Iraqi immigrants living in New York, and their story of a traditional Christmas turned unconventional when Maryam, a young Iraqi refugee, arrives in their home. The play delves into life as an expatriate, questions conventional definitions of home and explores notions of identity and cultural standards. The piece will be performed in the NYUAD Arts Center on May 10 and 11 at 8 p.m. and on May 12 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available here.
CinemaNa: The Circle Screening
Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi will be screening a film called The Circle, by Emirati director Nawaf Al Janah, on May 7 at 7:30 p.m. The film follows Ibrahim, a journalist who discovers that he will soon die from a fatal disease. He confronts his partner-in-crime to get his share of money and make sure his wife will be supported once he is gone. Shihab, another character in the plot, is a professional thief who plans to quit his life in crime to care for his younger sister. When the two meet, their world is forever changed. Come see the film described by critics as “a major turning point in Emirati and Gulf cinema.” Tickets are available here.
