Tech Internship Panel
Would you like to know more about what internships are available for you in the UAE technology industry? Join WeSTEM and HackAD for a panel discussion with upperclassmen who have completed internships in the field. Panelists will be answering questions, sharing tips as well as talking about their experiences working with firms such as McKinsey & Company, Lockheed Martin and Foursquare. The event is open to students of all classes and majors, so drop by the Engineering Design Studio on Sunday Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. to find out what is out there in the tech world.
Special Effects Makeup Workshop
Whether you are looking for an ultra-realistic Halloween costume, a great way to prank your friends or are just generally interested in special effects, the Special Effects Makeup Workshop is perfect for you. Come learn how to create realistic special effects with makeup, that can be easily replicated at home. The event will take place in C3-025 on Tuesday Oct. 9 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.. If you are interested, sign up with Terry May at the Arts Equipment Center behind The Cube.
Lime Night: Legends of the Caribbean
In the spirit of Halloween, The Caribbean Students Association is hosting a night of tales and stories from the Caribbean. The region boasts an array of fantastical and imaginative legends rooted in African, Asian, Indigenous and European folklore. Some of the tales planned for the evening include Lougaroup, River Mumma, Duppies, Douen and more. Come enjoy the storytelling, along with some KFC, on Sunday Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. in The Boardroom, C2-E240. RSVP here.
Student Theater Production Auditions
Do you have a passion for acting and an interest in participating in a student-led production? Come show off your skills and audition for this year’s Theater Program Student-Led Production. The production for this year will be based on the works of Cuban-American playwright María Irene Fornés. The auditions will be held between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 7 in Arts Center Studios 144 and 146. The audition will be based on group devising exercises and students are not expected to memorize material beforehand. If you are interested, come in comfortable clothes and with your best attitude before 7 p.m.. Reach out to the directors, Vicky Critchlow and Ethan David, both Class of 2019, if you have any questions or concerns.
Fitness Games
Make space in your calendar for this year’s Fitness Games on Monday Oct. 8. The annual event, also known as the Pink Games, is held to raise awareness about breast cancer and is part of NYU Abu Dhabi’s Breast Health Month. The event will feature various fun games and exercises for students to participate in. The games will take place in the Performance Gym between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., so come raise awareness of an important issue, bring your friends and don’t forget to wear pink.
