SLICE Movie Screening of BlacKkKlansman
Spiritual Life and Intercultural Education will be hosting a movie screening of Oscar-nominated film, BlacKkKlansman. The movie is set in the early 1970s and is based on the actual events of undercover detective Ron Stallworth’s efforts to take down the American extremist hate group, the Ku Klux Klan.
The movie will be screened from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 29 in Al Diwan. Discussion will be facilitated by SLICE afterward.
Institute Talk – Glorious Failure: How To Bring A New Drug to the Market Professor Kip Guy, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at University of Kentucky, will be giving a talk at the NYUAD Institute on on Feb. 24 on how an entrepreneurial mindset can successfully produce a new drug. Professor Guy will explain how structuring teams into adaptable and nimble units can contribute to the success of drug discovery. The talk will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Conference Center, A6, on Feb. 24.
Youth Circle on “The Role of Youth in Interfaith Tolerance Education to Advance Religious Freedom” The regional conference of the 2019 Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom will include a youth circle where young people have the opportunity to rub minds with experts on interfaith tolerance and senior government officials on how interfaith tolerance can eradicate religious extremism. Knox Thames, Special Advisor for Religious Minorities from the U.S. Department of State and H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Hedayah, will be among those attending. This event is co-organized by the Office of the UAE Minister of Tolerance and the United States Department of State. It will take place in the atrium of the Social Sciences building from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Feb. 25.
Creative Portfolio Review This event is organized by the Career Development Center in order to provide a casual setting for students to showcase and receive feedback on their creative portfolio from faculty and employers. The Creative Portfolio Review will take place from 5:30pm to 7:00 p.m. at the CDC Career Café on Feb. 27.
