Mental Health Awareness Month
The Health Promotion Office will be holding a midterm de-stress session from 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 16. in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. REACH and several Student Interest Groups, such as Stories, Scribble and Spacious will be hosting small panels and activities in order to help students ditch the stress of the first half of the semester.
In addition to events put on by the Health Promotion Office, the Maudsley Clinic will also be hosting a talk with Dr. Arlene Cooke, a clinical psychologist, on Monday, March 11. The Lecture, entitled Self Harm & Helping a Friend will discuss how self harm is related to mental health, and how friendship can help combat it.
Arts Center Events
World class pianist and jazz musician, Justin Kauflin will be performing with his band on Monday, March 11. in the black box as part of the Abu Dhabi Festival. Kauflin is known for his accomplishments in piano, as well as the documentary, Keep On Keepin’ On, which details how going blind led him to pursue Jazz.
On Friday, March 15., NYU Abu Dhabi’s own Alana Barraj will be hosting a one-night cabaret performance. The actor and singer will be performing a series of broadway hits, as well as music from popular animated movies.
The NYU Abu Dhabi Art Gallery will be hosting an installation by acclaimed industrial sound architecture artist, Zimoun until June First. The exhibit, entitled Zimoun: a Sensory Experience combines visual and auditory elements to create an immersive and cathartic landscape.
