A User Friendly Guide to Troubleshooting AlHosn

As students report difficulties in getting their green status on AlHosn, The Gazelle offers a guide explaining how to resolve the most common issues faced by students.

In a September 29th email, the Office of the Dean of the Students clarified that the NYUAD Campus Access app, which has been used to enter campus buildings since Fall 2020, will no longer be accepted on campus, except for those with pending DOH exemptions, SEHA vaccination recognition, or those on a “guided vaccine dosage journey with the student health center”.
Instead, community members will be required to show a green pass on their AlHosn applications. Nonetheless, many students who are compliant with Abu Dhabi public health protocols report that they do not have a ‘green pass’ on their AlHosn apps.
Consequently, students may be worried about accessing campus facilities and maintaining a functional everyday life on campus. In the face of these concerns, this guide explains how to fix AlHosn in the most common situations students encounter.
What is AlHosn? You can think of it as a key to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. AlHosn is a phone application that catalogs your vaccination status and PCR testing history. If both are within the guidelines detailed in the next section, AlHosn will provide you with a ‘green pass.’ In essence, this means that your app will display a green scannable QR code, which many places in Abu Dhabi require for entry such as malls and restaurants.
*What do I need for a ‘green pass’? You need to meet one of the following conditions to receive a ‘green pass’: You are fully vaccinated and have received a negative PCR test in the past 30 days. To be recognized as fully vaccinated, you must have received your second dose of a UAE-approved vaccine. Additionally, if the second dose was taken over six months ago, you are also required to take a third booster dose, for which you are given a 30 day grace period to receive. This only applies to the Chinese-manufactured Sinopharm vaccine. You have been given medical exemption from vaccination and have received a negative PCR test in the past seven days. You are under 16 years old.
If you meet any of the sets of conditions above and still do not have the ‘green pass,’ the sections below explain how to fix your AlHosn.
How do I verify my vaccination? People vaccinated in countries outside the UAE have to inform the government of their vaccination history for it to be reflected on AlHosn. To do this, prepare clear copies of your passport and vaccination card, in addition to a personal image, and then visit the Register arrivals and vaccine certificates attestation form on the ICA website. Submit this form and your AlHosn should update within three to seven days.
If the ICA form does not update your AlHosn within three to seven days and your vaccine was administered outside of the UAE, you also have the option of visiting a SEHA center for vaccination verification. Before visiting the center, be sure to collect your Oman Insurance card from the Health Center located on the ground floor of C2, and prepare your Emirates ID/entry permit, proof of vaccination and passport. The closest SEHA location to campus is located at Mina Zayed, which is about ten minutes from campus by taxi. The queue typically ranges from one to two hours. Upon leaving the SEHA center, AlHosn should update in three to five days.
What if my PCR tests are not showing on the app? If you are not receiving your PCR test results on AlHosn, then it is likely that your app is linked to the wrong phone number. To correct this, simply complete the same form used to verify your vaccine. If you need to correct both your mobile number and vaccination status, the ICA form only needs to be submitted once. Similarly, AlHosn should update your phone number in three to five days.
What if my AlHosn does not update, despite being vaccinated in the UAE? The previously mentioned ICA form does not account for vaccinations received within the UAE. For those who got vaccinated in the country, the solution is to directly contact the center that provided your vaccination. For those who were vaccinated during the Spring semester’s vaccination drives, ViaMedica is the company to contact. Email them at qa@viamedica-international.com and explain your situation.
Any additional problems? If you are facing any other issues with your AlHosn, you can reach out to the AlHosn mobile support line. This service can be reached at +971 800 HOSN 4676.
