The Viral “This is Fine” Meme is Turning into a Game!

Explore the fun, and anxious, world of the new “This is Fine” video game.

Oct 30, 2025

More than 12 years after K.C. Green published the world-famous “This is Fine” meme as part of his Gunshow series, the comic strip that started it all has been turned into a video game. The meme features a yellow dog named Question Hound holding a cup of coffee surrounded by a room engulfed in flames with a text bubble reading, “This is Fine”.
The message of coping in chaos is universal, yet for Green, the comic strip originated when he first started taking antidepressants. Young, living alone, and scared of how the medications would change his personality, Green drew the comic as a reflection of his own state of mind at the time. He claimed he first started seeing the meme on Instagram when university students started sharing it during exam season to make light of the stress they were going through. Seems familiar.
The game, titled ‘This is Fine: Maximum Cope,’ developed by Hero Concept and published by Numskull Games, is still in the process of being released, yet its demo was just made publicly available on October 15, 2025. It is supposed to bring back the emotions of sadness, frustration, and stress that the meme sparked, but now also the feeling of fun while playing.
The game immerses the player into the brain of Question Hound, described by the developers as “a collapsing theme park of our deepest inner anxieties manifested.” The labyrinth-style game features five different worlds of anxiety – Humiliation, Fear, Failure, Loss, and Regret – that the player has to overcome. Within these worlds are enemies that the player has to defeat, inspired by people’s own daily challenges, including six bosses that the player must best and master, such as “Work Boss” and “Deadline Mob.” Defeating these enemies allows the player to develop new abilities to progress into the next world.
There are “Rest Points” dispersed throughout the game, animated to show Question Hound sipping coffee like in the meme. Coffee Beans are the game’s currency, and collecting them allows the player to purchase certain perks, 27 in total, while also refilling their “healing” coffee cups to give them energy while working through each world and fighting enemies. With more than 28 collectibles to find, Players should also look out for collectibles related to the meme and Question Hound.
Developers have admitted that the game is “absurd” and “unhinged”, but perfectly “weird” and “fun” at the same time. Set to release for March 2026, the game will be featured on most major gaming platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam/PC, and Nintendo Switch. As written in its description, “Angst and helplessness have never looked so good!”
