On April 19, NYU Abu Dhabi hosted a live stream of TEDxNYU. This global network conference was part of a yearly NYU New York event. The event was also streamed in NYU Shanghai with a six-hour time delay.
The conference is dedicated to sharing ideas of technology, entertainment and design, hence the acronym TED. This year, the event featured 10 speakers under the theme of “Modern Mavericks” and aimed to celebrate unconventional thinking.
“The speakers lineup addressed their maverick journeys to gain recognition from various perspectives and covered different disciplines,” said senior Hala Halaseh, the head organizer for the event in Abu Dhabi.
The conference in Abu Dhabi also featured a live talk from NYU President John Sexton. This was the first time he ever spoke at TEDxNYU. The event was meant to be a stepping stone toward NYUAD hosting it own TEDx conference in the future.
The organizers commented that from the beginning of TEDxNYU they worked hard to bring together and inspire the NYU community through future and evolution of the Global Network University.
“I think this event is a fantastic way to share an intellectual dialogue between the two portal campuses and is a testament to the direction in which NYU is moving as a true Global Network University,” said junior Benjamin Jance IV who was assisting the organizers of the event.
