On Sunday Apr. 27, NYU Abu Dhabi’s Film Collective hosted the viewing of the third annual 24-Hour Film Race. Seven films were entered into the competition and were screened in the Sama Tower cafeteria to an audience of students, professors and judges.
Students were given three prompts to work into their films, which had to be shot with either a Flip or phone camera. This year’s prompts were (w)rap, sap and map, with references to these cues ranging from exaggerated spoken hints to background artistic inspiration.
Submissions came from around the GNU, spanning a range of genres from horror and Gaspar Noe-esque dreamscape to existential comedy. The Gazelle presents the seven films below, in ranked order according to the judging panel.
