Dear students,
Welcome home. NYU Abu Dhabi’s new, permanent campus is spectacular, and reflects the extraordinary commitment our university has made to fulfilling student aspirations. We’ve been thinking of it as a dream factory, where exciting academic and co-curricular opportunities lay at our fingertips. After years of planning and hard work, we are here.
Our transition is a work in progress. Returning upperclassmen especially will understand the challenges of undertaking, in Provost Piano’s words, “a second first year.” Not all of the facilities on campus are completely prepared and outfitted. Unexpected challenges will surface with evolving campus services including dining, transportation and public safety, and it is our duty as a student body to tackle each one with equal doses of patience and drive for improvement.
As we learn to live on a new common ground, we ought to find constructive ways to make this place, our shared space, home. Student Government continues to serve as your representative voice to our administrative and government partners; use us, work with us and help us make the campus better with each passing day. Leverage the General Assembly, committee involvement, and SIG membership to communicate student opinion to us and our partners. Connect with us over email and in person from our office to our dorm rooms — it is our duty and privilege to listen.
We have no doubt that you will embrace these challenges with a spirit of understanding and adventure. Being global pioneers in higher education has never been easy, but its rewards will affect generations of students to come. This year can be NYU Abu Dhabi’s best yet.
In service,
Your Student Government Executive Board
