Over the course of the semester, sustainability has nudged its way to the forefront of our community’s thinking, in both the university's daily life choices and its larger presence in Abu Dhabi. Awareness campaigns and policy changes, including the upcoming introduction of reusable containers to university dining establishments, have sparked debate about the ways different bodies are tackling sustainability, where we’re drawing the line and on whom we’re placing responsibility.
On 15 March, The Gazelle will help to organize and mediate a panel event at The Marketplace, in which representatives from ADNH Compass, Student Government committees and NYU Abu Dhabi Facilities will gather to answer questions posed to them by the student community.
In keeping with The Gazelle’s goals to motivate dialogue at NYUAD and encourage transparency among the university and its partners’ decisions, we hope that the event will clarify for students what the university is doing to be sustainable, mindful and eco-friendly in its dining and facility management. We believe the event will serve as a real life, productive follow-up to many of the conversations that have been started at The Gazelle.
If you have a question about sustainability at NYUAD, whether it be about our location in Abu Dhabi, the limits the university navigates or even something as simple as why dining halls haven’t yet gone trayless, we invite you to ask it @thegazellead on Twitter or via email at feedback@gzl.me. These questions will then be posed and answered during the event, which the wider community is welcome and encouraged to attend. Keep checking The Gazelle's Facebook page for further details on time and place to come.
