Editor’s Note: There was no General Assembly Report for Feb. 21 because the GA was cancelled by the Student Government.
On Feb. 28, Student Government General Assembly focused on five main topics: the resignation of Sophomore Class Representative and the consequent call for an election to appoint a new representative, Student Interest Group spending, alumni relations and commencement updates.
The GA commenced with the resignation of Sophomore Class Representative, who requested not to be named for privacy reasons; the call for the Elections Commission to conduct elections to fill her post was subsequently put forward.
On the topic of SIG spending, Student Government announced that the budget is 40,000 AED and that 27,497 AED has been spent so far.
Alumni relations were also discussed, specifically due to the resignation of the Alumni Relations Officer Prince Osei. The suggestion that more events should be organized for NYU Abu Dhabi alumni — in addition to the existing global events for all NYU alumni — was brought into consideration.
Finally, Student Government outlined the visa specifications for guests attending the commencement ceremony of the graduating class. It was also announced that the university will provide on-campus housing for the guests, and that the school will arrange city tours.
