“I think I would be Es Campur. It is an Indonesian dessert composed of shaved ice topped with condensed milk and syrup. Underneath the ice you can find coconut, jelly and all kinds of fruits. Es Campur is always super fun and filled with surprises. It's both sweet and cold on the outside but hides a multitude of flavors within. It's not until you go through the ice that you can truly experience its deliciousness.”

“I would be KFC. I think KFC is like me in that it may seem hard on the first touch, but once you break through that layer of coating, it is so tender. I would like to bring a bit of a spice to everyones lives. Plus, being everywhere in the world can't hurt.”

Mona Nehme, sophomore
“The food that most honestly represents me is a Brazilian pastry called empada. It’s a very common street food sold across the country, with different fillings from shrimp to chicken. My mother is Brazilian, so considering I used to go to Brazil every summer, this specific food is very representative of my childhood. If anything, I aspire to be like the empada, for it’s not a try-hard dish, it’s loved and known by all, and it knows no social status discrimination. Be the empada. Love the empada.”

Sharif Ibrahim, freshman
"I would be my mom's three-cheese lasagne. Looking terribly complex with its infinite layers of goodness, I'd disguise that I'm just a simple dish with nothing to offer but warm, hearty, feel-good love for whomever came a-knockin'."

Nandita Chaturvedi, senior
“If I were to be a food, without a doubt, I'd be a Cheeto. I simply love Cheetos, and anyone close to me is aware of this obsession. In fact, my dedication to being a Cheeto is so great, I even kept it as my profile picture for a year — after my friends uploaded it on Facebook as a prank. It would be a perfect description of my personality as well: the right amount of twist, flavor and happiness in each bite. Our matching personalities, and beautiful relationship of giving each other joy, makes a Cheeto the only food I strive to be.”

Andrew Callender, freshman
"If I had a choice to be any food it would be a dish we call rice and peas in Jamaica. Why? Well it has such a multidimensional taste. When it's done properly, it is simultaneously slightly sweet and spicy, with a consistency that's not too soft but not too rough. It's just right and it makes you feel at peace."

Alejandra Trejo, sophomore
“If I were a food, I'd be a marzapan. Mazapans are Mexican candies that are traditional and sweet just like me. However, you have to handle them with care. Unwrapping a mazapan without breaking it is a skill that few master, but if you're able to do it, it's totally worth it.”

Yasmin Farhan, sophomore
“If I had to be one food, I would probably choose to be some kind of gluten free, sugar free, fat free snack bar, bought by the optimistic mother of three children, all under 10 years old. This way I could guarantee immortality.”

Sahan Sachintha Tampoe, sophomore
“I'm a KitKat. Everyone loves KitKat! Anyone who doesn't has issues. It looks simple but it's one of the best creations ever.”
