On March 24, Student Government General Assembly focused on five main topics: Interclassico announcement, Q&A session about commencement, Ask the E-board session, Falcon Awards and Global NYU Governance.
The Executive Board reminded the attendees of Interclassico football matches, which took place on March 27.
Next, Angela Pastor, chair of the Student Commencement Committee received questions from attendees. She noted that in the coming year they hope to implement a system through which more people can provide their input on the commencement speaker.
The GA then hosted a session called Ask the E-board for candidates to ask questions about student governance. Members of the Executive Board also addressed the concerns about the irrelevancy of Student Government as outlined in last week’s issue of The Gazelle. They did not agree with most of its contents, as they thought that they have made many efforts this year to connect with students.
Officer of Student Activities Victoria Critchlow announced the upcoming Falcon Awards for Student Interest Groups. Nominations will close on May 1. The awards will be given at the last GA of the semester on May 8.
Finally, Global Vice President Patrick Wee Sheldon presented some of his ideas on Global NYU Governance, asking students for input on whether they prefer a separationist approach to governance or an integrationist one.
