Tired of the malls, desert and frequent IKEA trips? The Gazelle lists five places to explore art in Abu Dhabi.

####1. Etihad Modern Art Gallery/ The Art House Located in the Al Bateen area, the Etihad Modern Art Gallery showcases work from both well-established and upcoming Emirati and international artists. In the past, the Etihad Modern Art Gallery has organized art shows and local heritage exhibitions. Connected to it is the Art House Café, which embodies a unique artistic concept wherein furniture is made into art using waste materials. The Art House Café also hosts monthly poetry open mics.
####2. Abu Dhabi Art Hub The Abu Dhabi Art Hub is a community of artists here in Abu Dhabi. Every month the Hub showcases local and international artwork. Themes include the identity of the UAE, ancient cultures and islander culture. Exhibitions are set up in different locations all over Abu Dhabi. ####3. Warehouse 421 Warehouse 421, launched in 2015, transformed an industrial warehouse in Mina Zayed into a contemporary art space. The Warehouse is an all-purpose artistic platform that organizes film screenings, workshops, performances, panel discussions and exhibitions. Much of the artwork showcased in Warehouse 421 focuses on the reimagination and changed perceptions of common ideas.
####4. Salwa Zeidan Gallery Salwa Zeidan is a contemporary art gallery located at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort. The gallery features the creations of well-known international and Middle Eastern artists working across a range of media, from paintings, installations and performances to sculptures and performance art.
####5. NYUAD Arts Center Not in the mood to get off campus, but still want to engage with the cultural life of Abu Dhabi? The NYUAD Arts Center almost always has something going on. Once a month, the Arts Center hosts Rooftop Rhythms, a poetry open mic and slam. The theatre department also showcases student work and productions. Additionally, there are musical performances ranging from jazz to rock throughout the year.
