Although a relatively recent musical genre, born in the neighborhoods of the South Bronx in the 1970s, rap has extended beyond the boroughs of New York City, being picked up by artists from all over the world. The following map, created with the help of NYU Abu Dhabi students with an interest in rap music, will guide you on a cultural journey through the global hip hop scene.
